Our Story
Expat Expert was founded by Andrés Contreras and Laura Morales. Originally from Los Angeles, Andrés moved to Medellín to invest in property and generate passive income. Laura, a licensed bilingual Colombian attorney specializing in real estate and civil law, guided him through every legal and transactional step. Together, they realized their experience was the perfect match and created Expat Expert to help others relocate and invest in Colombia with confidence and peace of mind.
Meet the Founders
Andrés Contreras, Co-Founder
Andrés brings more than a decade of U.S. financial and business banking experience, along with nearly four years of firsthand experience living and investing in Colombia. He has purchased properties, completed several Colombian visa processes, and closely follows the local real estate market, the Colombian economy, and the USD–COP exchange rate. His practical perspective helps clients understand the realities of relocating, spot considerations they may have overlooked, and make informed decisions about when and how to invest.
Laura Morales, Co-Founder & Attorney
Laura is a licensed bilingual Colombian attorney specializing in real estate and civil law. She provides the legal expertise and local knowledge needed to move your plans forward safely, with direct, one-on-one assistance from a licensed attorney, not simply an assistant. Clients receive prompt responses to their calls and messages, and our reviews reflect the professionalism, reliability, and personal attention we provide.
