Expat Expert is a private legal and consulting service based in Medellín, Colombia. This page explains how we handle your personal information and the refund and update rules for our digital products.

Refund & Update Policy

All sales of digital products are final

Our DIY visa packages are digital products delivered instantly by email. Because a PDF guide cannot be returned once it has been sent, all purchases are final and non-refundable once the guide has been delivered.

Free updates for 90 days

An update is not a refund. If Cancillería changes the visa requirements or the online application form within 90 days of your purchase, we email you the updated guide at no extra cost.

Download problems

If your download link expires or does not work, message us and we will send you a new one.

Upgrades

If you want more help later, we credit 100% of what you paid toward a higher package or our full-service visa application. You only pay the difference.

Government fees and visa decisions

Government fees are paid directly to the Colombian authorities, are not included in our prices, and are not refundable by Expat Expert. Every visa decision is made by Cancillería, so approval is never guaranteed.

Privacy Policy

Information we collect

We collect the information you give us: your name, email address, phone or WhatsApp number, details about your visa or legal matter, documents you send us for review, and your order details. Payments are processed by our payment provider through our Squarespace checkout. We never see or store your full card number.

How we use it

We use your information to deliver your purchase, schedule and hold consultations, review your documents, provide the services you request, answer your messages, and meet our legal and accounting obligations. We do not sell your personal information.

Who we share it with

We share information only with the service providers we need to run our business, such as website hosting and checkout (Squarespace), payment processing, email and WhatsApp. We share information with Colombian authorities only when you ask us to file an application for you or when the law requires it.

Cookies

Our website runs on Squarespace, which uses cookies to operate the site, the checkout and basic visitor statistics. You can manage cookies in your browser settings.

How long we keep it

We keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes above and to meet our legal obligations.

Your rights

Under Colombian data protection law (Law 1581 of 2012), you can ask to access, update, correct or delete your personal data, or withdraw your consent, at any time.
