With a DIY digital package, you receive our attorney-designed system and prepare and submit your own visa application, choosing how much attorney support you want.

DIY Package ($109): the attorney-designed system only, with no attorney involvement. Guided DIY Package ($209): the system plus one 30-minute virtual consultation with the attorney. Premium DIY Package ($319): the system, one 30-minute virtual consultation, and one complete attorney review of your documents before you submit.

Right after checkout, you receive an email with a secure link to download the PDF guide for your visa, written by our attorney, Laura Morales: who qualifies, every requirement, apostille and translation rules, the photo rules, a screen-by-screen walkthrough of the Cancillería online form with real screenshots, what to upload in each slot, fees and processing times, and how to get your cédula de extranjería after approval. The link stays active for 24 hours after your first download. If it expires, message us and we will send you a new one.

At checkout, you share your time zone and two or three times that work for you. We email you within 1 business day to confirm your virtual consultation. We recommend preparing your documents and questions with the DIY system before the call so you get the most out of your 30 minutes. The consultation does not include a review of your documents.

After your consultation, once your application is complete, you send your full visa package to the attorney for one complete review before you submit it yourself. We will explain how to send your documents when we confirm your consultation.

With any DIY digital package, you prepare and submit your own application and keep full control of your documents. With our full-service package, Expat Expert prepares and submits the application for you.

No. Government fees are never included in any of our packages, digital or full-service. They are paid directly by the applicant to the Colombian authorities, such as the visa application study fee, the visa issuance fee, and the Cédula de Extranjería fee when applicable. These fees are set by the government and may change without notice.

Yes. The DIY digital packages are fully digital and location-independent, whether you are in Medellín, Bogotá, Cartagena, Cali, or abroad. Consultations are held virtually.

Yes. If you buy a DIY digital package and later want more attorney support, contact us and we will credit what you already paid, so you only pay the difference. To move up to the Guided or Premium DIY package, we will send you a personal discount code to use at checkout. For example, if you bought the $109 DIY Package, you would pay $210 more for the $319 Premium DIY Package. To move up to our full-service package (COP $2,500,000), we will apply what you paid toward the full-service fee.

No. Visas are reviewed, approved, and issued exclusively by the Colombian government. Expat Expert is a private legal and consulting service and is not affiliated with the Colombian government or the Ministerio de Relaciones Exteriores. Our packages are designed to help you prepare a complete, well-organized application and avoid common mistakes.

No. Because the PDF guide is a digital product that can be copied once it is delivered, all DIY digital package sales are final and non-refundable once the PDF has been sent. Please review the package details carefully before you buy, and contact us with any questions. If you need more support later, you can still upgrade and we will credit what you already paid.
